Meet Mitch

Hi, my name is Mitch Rolling. I started Rolling Maps in November 2023 after drawing maps for over a year, which started as a hobby in late 2022.

As a history buff, I’ve always been interested in looking at maps, but I never thought I would one day create them myself. I was introduced to cartography when I became interested in how George R.R. Martin created the world of Westeros. When I found out how he did it, I started creating and doodling my own made-up worlds.

Eventually, I combined my love for history with this newfound hobby and started creating maps of major events and wars, in addition to local brewery maps, state maps, and of course fictional worlds like Westeros and Essos in Game of Thrones.

Some maps are drawn with pen, but I recently switched to a dip pen, which I think adds a unique feel to the maps and gives them a classic and traditional result. You can see the dip pen in action in my latest World War II map, showcased in the video on this page, and the Golden Age of Piracy map, as well as several others.

In addition to selling prints, I also do commission pieces.
